ravens_risingObviously, the most discussion worthy part of this chapter is the Hisagi & Tousen conversation. Which I loved. But I read through my fingers. xDD When Hisagi caid "Captain Tousen", I literally jerked back from the computer. Omg. The significance of that. Remember Matsumoto's doubts when Momo referred to Aizen as 'Captain Aizen'? I bet none of the Shinigami thought Hisagi would do that. Ahhh, I'm loving this. I always said that I thought Hisagi was just as screwed up by the betrayal as Momo and Kira were. Glad that Kubo actually went there! :D The hint that maybe Tousen has been screwing with his mind for longer than we thought is awesomesauce. <3 I can not wait for the coming chapters as more is revealed.
I'd say more about the possible outcomes and what stuff means, but my new friend

LOL of course at Hitsugaya and Hiyori. The fight was hilarious. xD But not as hilarious as it could've been if I hadn't been in a WTF?!?! state of mind... what was Hitsugaya thinking? I don't understand. At all. Why did he say that?! O_O

bleachness...I have to admit, I'm getting all sorts of crack theories about Hachi and Soifon running through my head now. I sort of like the idea of Hachi coming to the 2nd Division to discuss Kidou with Yoruichi, and always having a pat on the head and a kind word from Soifon, who was outwardly grumpy but secretly liked it. And Hachi, being understanding of Soifon's deep bond with Yoruichi because of those visits, understands with melancholy that she may never forgive him for being the cause of her exile.
It's cute and sweet. D'aww. Hacchi did look particularly depressed when she rejected him. D: I wanted to hug him.
Also... ILU BARRAGAN. You are the most badass creepy thing evar. And you have the best lines. Guh. My favorite this chapter was "everything is equal before me". It sounded kind of like Kubo trying to say something sorta profound? Because Barragan is time. So yeah. <3 Can't wait to see where this goes!
It made me sad that we didn't get to see Rose, Love, or Starrk, though. D: Oh well. Next week, mayhaps?

I like that theory about Hachi and Soi, we better get some backstory somewhere...
1. My first impression was WW, but after looking back and re-reading, I'm definitely thinking Mashiro. Because Gin is Gin and he would say that.
2. I feel like he is indeed a "Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass", but I suppose it's a matter of him putting it to use and whatnot (I'm still wary of calling him a Vasto Lorde, but I wouldn't be surprised). Though he did look pretty revved up after 'Fura' kicked (bad, bad pun) the bucket.

I've seen two with the former (even though the raw says サン (san), I'm thinking it was implied in his manner of speech), so I'm thinking the theory up there is pretty close :))

The Tousen-Hisagi this chap was amazing. CAPTAIN?!?! I also just flew out of my seat at that one.
I really enjoyed cairnsy's writing on it! Redemable/non-redemable for Tousen seems to be the question. Personal vote is non-, but we'll see what happens...
A bit of a tangent maybe, but I read that Kubo-san likes to put moments of importance on a white background. In page 2, it's Tousen's reaction (or lack there-of) to 'Captain' that is highlighted that way. Did Tousen know that Hisagi would be this way...?
*headdesk* WHY did Hitsu say those things?! And he knows nothing about the Vaisard, obviously, so him being like, 'sorry, I got ahead of myself' about wanting a piece of Aizen just comes off weird.
*sigh* Take a number, Hitsu. You and a bunch of other people need to take a whack at Aizen. I hope they leave some for you, though ^^
The look that Lisa gives them though... Again I so badly wish for a cohesive timeline of SS and it's people. It would clear up so many things.
WW has a strange relationship with Gin, and I'm not sure that he would be particularly concerned. ^^o
Moooooreeeee backstory! Yoruichi and Urahara have *got* to be kicking around somewhere... just after some Viasard story gets fleshed out ^.^
So,
1- WW. He might not be particularly concerned, but he does have that ... interesting sense of humour.
2- mmm, not sure. Kubo-san likes to make characters have personalities that are unlike thier outward appearance, so I think WW is a good candidate for VL. Plus I remember Urahara being surprised at him. Or by him ^^o He's got power, for sure. As for the two who need to fight that power - hold on tight, it's gonna be a tough ride XD

Like, he's very powerful, but still just a kid and may not be aware of his own strenght, hence he's pretty unpredictable. It rather looks like he's just playing instead of fighting and when he appeared on the battlefield I went all "Wtf, was he walking his pet and accidentally showed up here?".
I want Renji to take WW home as his new pet.I'm hoping Kensei will go to save Shuuhei's ass... But then again Mashiro stays with WW on her own, so it seems unlikely.
3. More than that, I'm wondering what the fuck with Ken-chan, Byakuya, Mayuri and Unohana. It's about time we know what they're doing and if they're trying to get to the battlefield at the very least. :/

on 2009-08-01 12:35 pm (UTC)Tousen is proving to be just as manipulative as Aizen and Gin; I definitely think he'd been playing with Hisagi's mind as much as the other two had Momo and Izuru. What's kind of more disheartening about Tousen is that, while Aizen had been pretending to be a nice guy and well, Gin didn't really pretend to be anything other than himself, Tousen is justufying everything he has done and continues to do in the name of some warped justice. --- AND I JUST READ THAT ENTRY. And yes, everything she has said just sounds so right. I especially like what she said about Tousen's growing arrogance.
OH GOD I LOL'D WHEN SHE KICKED HIM IN THE FACE. JUST... PRICELESS. POOR WW DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HIT HIM! I think it was a little bit about both, being honest.
I don't think I can hate Gin ever. He's a huge asshole, but he always has been, you know? He just does things on whims and on Aizen's orders. What's strange is that while Izuru was distrught by his betrayal, I don't think Rangiku was surprised? I don't know, I got the feeling she was more angry and hurt that he'd "gone somehwhere" she "couldn't go again" rather than the fact he had betrayed SS.
I HAVE A NEW OTP. I just thought it was so cute that he has never really apologised to anyone then Hiyori gets him to do it just by being her grumpy self. I think he said it because Aizen was finally out of that ball of fire and he had a chance to avenge Momo? Then Hiyori brought it home that he couldn't even beat the third espada. Aaah, I agree with that. I think we can say SoiFon has some serious bitter feelings towards the Vaizard simply because they and Urahara are the reason that Yoruichi left her and the second division.

I totally got the same impression about Kira and Matsumoto. I think Matsumoto knew Gin a whole lot better than Kira did, in the end. To her I don't think it was really betrayal of SS... just Gin being Gin, and leaving. That's what he does.

on 2009-08-02 03:11 pm (UTC)I'm really very interested in Tousen now; like you said, all we knew about him was that to him everything =/= justice. I really need to reread the SS arc where he has his flashback about his friend; can you remember what type of justice was preached to him? Because Tousen's justice comes off as a very personal justice these days. There also doesn't seem to be the same worship of Aizen we've seen before hand; maybe he's becoming cocky what with ruling over the arrancar with an ironfist?
What's odd about the trio though, is that Gin doesn't really treat Aizen like a God, does he? He treats him as though speaking to a friend or a brother. Maybe it's just the way the are, but always struck me odd that Tousen treated Aizen like Jesus incarnate while Gin, who is so much younger, treats him like he would anybody else.
I KIND OF LOVE MASHIRO MORE NOW.
THIS. She grew up with Gin, you know? He gave her a birthday etc. whereas Kira was simply just his subordinate. I think Raginku might be the only person, besides Aizen, who really knows Gin's character. Gin being Gin, and leaving. That's what he does. I think that's it exactly; they have an interesting relationship, i'd like more back story on those two.

I was wondering why everyone was like WTF SHIRO while I was like, "But Aizen was in a ball of fire for a while and he fucked up his best friends head, and now he's out of the ball of fire...". I like how effortlessly Hiyori just brings him down to her level. :'D They need more interaction.
I WANT LISA TO KICK ASS TOO. I'm also hoping that if she gets her ass kicked to the ground, her hollow will take over. The Vaizard are all about how the whipped their hollows into obedience, but we know through Ichigo that doing that is kind of impossible. Maybe through that we can see Shunsui being all kinds of horrified and Hiyori just being like OHSHI-.

I was meaning Barragan, BUT OH YOU RAISE SUCH A VERY GOOD POINT. Orihime's power is basic in structure; attack, defense, heal. But we know it's so powerful that she can literally reject fated events, which makes me think that if she were pushed enough to have a killing intent, that maybe she could reject someones existance? If she did, I think the punishment for such an action would be that she be the one burdened with remebering all that happened. OOOH, I kind of like this idea. But you're right, there would be the aftermath of the war and no one would really know what the hell had happened, only that they had been fighting arrancar? Maybe it'd cause a paradox? :S CONFUSING.
I'm wondering what the hell the Soul King is doing while his existance is being threatened. Maybe he's doing a DBZ like power up or something.

As for how long Hisagi's been under his spell ... according to the manga, Hisagi had already been accepted into the Gotei 13 7 years before he even entered the academy. My guess is that was when Tousen first sunk his claws ito him, although I'm dying to know exactly what Hisagi did to get into the Gotei 13 and in such a way. More flashbacks, please!

2) Amazingly powerful. Got to be. I'm thinking though that his extra, amazing powers might come from being 'aged up' by the skeleton guy.
