Fuck My Life, and a fic rant

ravens_risingAlso, at the moment I've got this horrible crick in my neck and I can barely move it. OW.
So I went and read through some of the recent Ukitake stuff posted on ff.net and then I came to this fic. OMG. MY EYES. I read pretty much every Ukitake fic posted over there, no matter what pairing and how badly written it is. And this one is probably one of the ones that's bothered me the most, and it's not even written (gramatically) all that badly. It's just the OCCness. AHH. Ukitake is crying and drinking, and Byakuya comes up and asks him whats wrong. Ukitake tells him...
Jyushiro couldn’t take it anymore, his body refused to hold these strong emotions at bay any longer and he cried out, causing several of the other patrons in the bar to turn as he screamed, “Shunsui left me!” He broke down into heavy sobs, burying his face within his shaking hands as tears fell uncontrolled from his eyes.
“Kyoraku-taicho left you?” the younger captain questioned genuine surprise within his voice. It had been no secret that the two had been a couple; they’d known each other since their days in the Shinigami Academy, so it only seemed natural after so long. This truly was shocking news to the captain of the sixth division. “What kind of excuse would he have to do so?”
Jyushiro collected himself a little at the question, sniffing and rubbing his eyes to remove more tears as he thought back to the very truthful answer his former lover had given him when he’d asked something akin to that. “Well… do you know about that big party Matsumoto Rangiku put together the other day?” After the younger man’s confirming nod, he went on, tears and sobs fighting their way free as he spoke, “S-she had it… and Shunsui went… b-because…. Hitsuguya-taicho finally turned eighteen!” The white-haired captain broke down again, crying into his folded arms on the bar.
... WHAT? Yeah, you read that right. *headdesk*
On the other hand, Liralen's new fic pretty much made my week. <3 ^_____^ Go read it. It's fantastical and sweet and everything I love about Jyuu and Shun. (Who, by the way, would never break up with Jyuu for HITSUGAYA. Just, btw. In case you were wondering. *twitch*)
Also, yes, fantastical is now a word. :P
PS: The fic gets even BETTER. Next chapter deals with Byakuya talking about how he totally empathizes with Jyuu, because Kenpachi broke up with him for Ichigo.
Yes, you read that right too.

XD The last chapter involved Byakuya and Ukitake at hot springs, and Shunsui and Hitsugaya are there too. And Hitsugaya is all smiley at Shunsui. I was like *choke* Hitsugaya, smiling?! And then I had the urge to tell him not to get too happy because if he would break up with his lover of 2000 YEARS...
Another great line is: "I’m too old," Ukitake mumbled on, the rice wine loosening his tongue, "that’s why he left me. He decided he couldn’t be with someone my age anymore, which is why he went to Toushiro-kun! I’m not good enough for him! My illness makes me weak and ugly... and Shunsui just had enough." *twitches*

Okay I came across some odd ones on FFNet last time I looked for ShunUki there, but nothing that odd.
After reading This fic I never looked for ShunUki stuff over there ever again. I actually went and re-read one of Liralen's to get some good fic back into my mind.

on 2009-05-04 06:02 pm (UTC)Oh god. I remember that one. Of course I do, I've read EVERYTHING over there... *laughs* Yeah, that one was pretty bad. *winces* I don't geeeet it! I totally understand, though. I have my own ShunUki fics that I read to recover from the bad!fic. I totally read Liralen's new one several times after reading this bad fic the other day. I'm at the point now where I just kind of laugh at this fic, but it bothered me at the time. XD To recover from the one you linked to, I went back and found the well-written fic about Shunsui getting TB. XD
On the other hand, there still are some decent ShunUki fics over at ff.net. You just have to wade through. XD I could rec you some if you want...
